Sign Language-themed mugs on display at Manchester Central Library as part of the exhibition “The Deafening Truth“.

The popular Manchester British Sign Language Fest is back for it’s third year and this year’s programme, which runs from Monday 22 April to Sunday 28 April 2024, brings a host of free BSL-themed activities, fun and entertainment to the city. The festival is organised by Manchester Deaf Centre and BSL celebration and will be held alongside the annual British Deaf Association (BDA) conference.

The Deafening Truth – Free Exhibition at Central Library 

1 April – 30 June 2024 

Curated by the British Deaf History Society, this free exhibition at Manchester Central Library highlights the heritage and history of the deaf community by presenting a series of objects telling the stories of deaf culture. The exhibition is free and open to all. Check Central Library’s opening times here

BSL Storytelling – Free Sessions at Central Library 

Tuesday, 23rd April, 11am  and

Thursday, 25th April, 11am 

Come and see popular children’s stories brought to life visually by experienced BSL Storyteller Kate Tinston. During this interactive session, we will be telling stories in BSL with English voice-over. Free and accessible to all children and their adults. Meet at 10.40am and join the fun!
