As part of my role as Community Officer for Archives+ I have been spending a lot of time in Moss Side and Hulme, and I’ve been impressed with how people who live there are proud to be part of the community.
With this is mind I went along to Moss Side Powerhouse Library to deliver a poster workshop for the children and young people there. The idea being that they would take inspiration from some of our fantastic vintage posters to create their own about something they care about, in particular their area.
Many of them took inspiration from the above poster because of it’s similarity to the popular “Keep Calm” posters, but also took advantage of the craft materials on offer to use different fonts, glitter, foam and lots of colour to make them their own.
Why not take a look at our Flickr collection to see all the posters we created and the originals we took inspiration from?
